Simmons is so affable on screen, and is a fine addition to a trio of interesting projects. I hope he gets to play his own age in the near future. Charlieâs English teacher and others have a disconcerting tendency to rhapsodize over Charlieâs giftedness, which seems to consist of Charlieâs unquestioning assimilation of the teacherâs taste in books. Into these standard teenage issues Chbosky infuses a droning insistence on Charlieâs supersensitive disposition.
